Many older vehicles — roughly 12 or more model years old — can be sold to licensed junk or scrap buyers without a title, using a signed statement and photo ID. Newer vehicles generally need a title. Rules can change, so we confirm your specific situation.

The registered owner generally needs to sign. If the owner has passed away, the estate’s executor or administrator can usually sell it with the proper documents.

You can still sell. The lien must be paid off as part of the sale. If you owe more than the car is worth, you’ll need to cover the difference.

Yes. Missing keys are fine for junk vehicles.

Not if the vehicle matches the description you gave. If something is very different (for example, missing parts that weren’t mentioned), we’ll explain before anything is signed.
